Volunteers
are the lifeblood of Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge. If you
have some time that you can give, please consider volunteering. We will
provide the training--you provide the enthusiasm! Volunteer docents
are needed 7 days a week--8 am-4 pm weekdays, 9 am-5 pm Saturdays, and
1-5 pm Sundays. Nova coordinates the weekday volunteers, and
Ann coordinates the weekend volunteers.
To volunteer as a docent (host) at the Refuge Visitor Center, you may call Nova at 318-387-1114, or call Ann (FoBB Vice-President) at (318) 503-5125. Email Ann at bloxom51@gmail.com and she can direct you as to volunteer opportunities and schedules. Most people volunteer for 4-hour time slots.
Charlie Carmichael (2004 volunteer of the year, Northeast LA Refuge Complex) does outdoor work at Black Bayou Lake almost every day, and he can tell you what sorts of jobs there are to be done there. He can also be reached at 318-387-1114 (leave a message).
